Initially, Venlo plans to have four charging stations for electric trucks – two HPC columns with up to 400 kW. Further charging points are will added in the first quarter of 2024.
Milence also aims to operate attractive, clean and safe sites – not charging points in an unlit corner of a rest area. Accordingly, “Truck Parking Venlo is a newly built facility with existing amenities tailored to the needs of truck drivers.” The use of the toilets is free of charge, and there is also round-the-clock access to showers and a laundry room. The restaurant at the site is open from eight in the morning until 9 p.m.
At the end of last week, Kempower announced that it would be one of the hardware suppliers for Milence – initially for CCS products. Kempower also has a 400 kW model on offer. However, whether the Kempower charging pole will be used in Venlo is not yet known.
Milence – or officially Commercial Vehicle Charging Europe BV – plans to set up a European fast-charging network for heavy commercial vehicles such as long-haul trucks and coaches on behalf of its shareholders Daimler Truck, Traton and the Volvo Group. The goal is to install 1,700 such charging points within five years – i.e. by the end of 2027.
