(representing the Volkswagen Group). Currently the group is dormant and does not have any co-chairs or active meetings foreseen. As soon as a question or issue is raised within the remit of this group, it will be convened once again.

At the first Capacity Working Group meeting in 2016 the main objectives and priorities were agreed. Three strategic areas were identified on which the group should focus:
During the Industry Meeting in 2016 the participants decided to focus on improving forecasting. This resulted in Project Caesar: Improving Forecast Quality for Finished Vehicle Logistics.
Project Caesar looked at current forecasting methodologies, aimed at establishing industry ‘good practice’ and developing a toolbox of improvement measures using research and analysis to create a detailed understanding of the methods applied in formulating transport forecasts and to determine the causes and consequential effects of good and poor forecasting. The work conducted by ICDP in 2017-2019 resulted in the publication of a standard forecasting methodology for the Finished Vehicle Logistics sector. In the course of Q1-Q2 2023 this methodology is updated to reflect the challenges that the capacity crisis and volatile supply chain shortages pose to outbound logistics. The updated methodology will be published in time for ECG’s general Assembly in May.
