CLECAT, the European Association for Forwarding, Transport, Logistics, and Customs Services, has published today a comprehensive guide on the application of ISO 14083, the international standard for quantifying greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in transport services. This new resource empowers freight forwarding companies to calculate and report emissions from their transport activities, contributing to greater transparency and sustainability across global supply chains.
The guide is the English translation of the publication by the German Environment Agency (UBA). It has been reviewed and updated by CLECAT to ensure its relevance and applicability for the broader European logistics sector. It includes practical case examples and a detailed list of key emission factors, making it an essential reference for freight forwarders responding to increasingly complex environmental reporting requirements.
The publication is particularly timely as it helps freight forwarders address various reporting requirements, including those under the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). By adhering to the standardised methodology outlined in ISO 14083, companies can enhance their environmental accountability and respond to the growing demand for reliable transport emissions data from regulators, customers, and supply chain partners.
