There has certainly been a lot of activity recently in our maritime sector. Some ports have witnessed significant changes in volumes, some increasing while others have witnessed a decline. Some have surging imports in containers, others see a complete move back to pure RoRo. And there is a great deal of new investment supporting these changes.
Nothing stands still for long in this industry!
The ports that are making the headlines are those with sudden, big jumps in RoRo volume.
The Port of Sheerness (London Medway) saw a significant 49% increase in RoRo traffic. The Port of Rostock saw a 281% jump in volume bringing it from a small player into the ‘Top RoRo Ports in Europe’ list. And Wilhelmshaven also saw a double digit increase in volume, up 67%. Meanwhile Cuxhaven jumped almost 14%.
