  5. EV State of Charge...

The European Maritime Safety Agency’s Guidance for Alternative Fuel Vehicles in Ro-Ro spaces recommends that the state of charge (SoC) of the vehicles transported on PCTC vessels be between 20% and 50%. Following the publication of this document ECG decided to survey the OEMs about the SoC with which their Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) leave the factories in Europe and with which they are transported.

The EMSA guidance document has been taken up by many shipping lines too, short sea and deep sea alike, which thus started to introduce their own requirements for the transported BEVs due to safety reasons.

The results of the survey among OEMs and shipping lines can be consulted below. Obviously things will change over time, and we will plan to review the contents on a regular basis, but if you notice anything that is out of date or inaccurate do please let us know so we can update the information.
