From 1 June 2021, the Crit’Air (air quality certificate) will be a mandatory requirement for vehicles circulating in the Greater Paris region. The Crit’Air certificate is a secure sticker to be affixed to the windscreen of the vehicle to indicate its environmental class. Environmental class classifications for Heavy Goods Vehicles are available here.

From 1 June 2021, Crit’Air 4, 5 and unclassified vehicles will be banned in the Greater Paris region within the perimeter of the A86 motorway, including the ring road and the Vincennes and de Boulogne woods. The concerned area comprises 79 towns in the perimeter of the A86. The map of the perimeter can be consulted here.

The ban will apply to all EURO 3 and EURO 4 Diesel trucks namely those bought between 1 October 2001 and 30 September 2009 included. The restriction for trucks will apply 7 days a week from 8AM to 8PM.

More restrictions are planned in the future. From 1 July 2022, the ban will apply to Crit’Air 3 trucks, namely EURO 5 Diesel trucks (bought between 1 October 2009 and 30 September 2013 included) and EURO 3 and EURO 4 trucks (bought between 1 October 2001 and 30 September 2009 included.)

From 1 January 2024, the ban will start applying to Crit’Air 2 trucks. As a consequence, EURO 6 Diesel trucks (bought after 1 January 2014) and EURO 5 trucks (bought between 1 October 2009 and 30 September 2013 included,) will be banned.
