ECG and Smart Freight Centre published the first ever methodology harmonising emissions accounting in the Ro-Ro segment in July 2023. An updated version 2 is now available.
The first version of the methodology is the result of project where ECG Members operating Ro-Ro vessels co-operated for 6 months led by Smart Freight Centre. It is aligned with existing international standards regarding carbon accounting for the logistics industry namely the Global Logistics Emissions Council (GLEC) Framework and ISO 14083.
The November update to the document concerns the section on fuel emissions factors and correspondent sample calculations. The reasons of this update are explained within the document. All ECG Members and car manufacturers are invited to use the latest version available here.
The Ro-Ro methodology feeds into the overall multimodal project to harmonise emissions accounting from automotive supply chains (inbound and outbound) led by ECG and VDA. The first guideline was published at the beginning of December 2023 and can be accessed on ECG’s website.
