Volkswagen is reducing work hours for employees at its plant in Wolfsburg, Germany, for three weeks in September due to a parts shortage caused by recent floods in Slovenia.
The short-time work measures will be in place from September 11-29, a VW spokesperson said.
VW is also cutting production at its commercial vehicles factory in Hannover, Germany, due to the supply disruption.
Production of the T6.1 van, which accounts for the bulk of production to date, will be suspended in mid-September while the T7 Multivan will only be built as a plug-in hybrid, a VW spokesman said.
The ID Buzz electric van will not be affected.
In addition, there would be isolated shift cancellations at VW's plant in Emden in northern Germany.
Flooding in Slovenia had paralyzed the production of gear rims at a subcontractor, affecting vehicle manufacturing, according to the spokesman.
A shortage of parts from a Slovenian supplier has also led VW to suspend production at its factory in Portugal for nine weeks, between September 11 and November 12, the workers' commission said last week.
The automaker had warned last month that it would suffer production interruptions at some plants due to the floods in Slovenia disrupting supply chains.
